Employee Resource Groups as champions of our workplace Diversity

Challenge

At Wendy’s, we know having an inclusive work environment where employees are empowered to bring their authentic selves to work while supporting our business is critical. Our Employee Resources Groups have created an avenue to support employees and our business.

Actions

Over the last several years, Wendy’s has supported its corporate employees in growing and developing six employee resource groups (ERGs). These ERGs are open to all employees at the Restaurant Support Center and are dedicated to professional development, creating connections and giving back to the local community. The ERGs are supported by an executive sponsor in our SLT including our CEO Todd Penegor. We expect these ERGs to continue to evolve in 2021, both to meet the business needs and inform the way we do business.

Outcomes

We will continue to make our workplaces trusting places to have complex, and sometimes difficult conversations about diversity equity & inclusion through our ERGs and our local and national groups focused on multicultural leadership.
