Diversity Philanthropy & Community at KnowBe4

Challenge

We have had a several year relationship with an organization called Empath Health which focuses on affordable health services for the LGBTQ community. We have sponsored a number of events to help raise awareness of issues this community faces. Over the course of the last year we recognize that there are a plethora of organizations committed to the hard work of moving marginalized communities forward. Our decision process to commit to supporting one organization at this level required multiple stakeholders and we wanted to ensure employee buy in as well.

Actions

Through engagement with our internal team and our LGBTQ ERG KnowBe4 pledged a sponsorship in the creation of a sexual health center being built with services being offered free of charge.

Outcomes

The Empath Health project has moved forward and is on track to be completed in May 2021.

Quote

We built KnowBe4 with the express knowledge that people would be at the center of not only our success in cybersecurity but that they would also revolutionize how we approach creating a new school approach security awareness training and the tools we provide. This reliance on people precipitated our desire to ensure equity, build spaces where our team can bring their authentic selves to work, but also work with our communities to further develop that same equity.

Building a team that is both diverse and reflective of the communities in which our offices reside is our continual goal. With that we also want to retain that talent and encourage each of our team members to explore options for growth within the company. We realize the way to see a diverse leadership team is not only exploring diverse talent pools but also cultivating said talent in house! So we celebrate diversity and work daily to cultivate inclusive spaces for our team members as we continue to innovate in the cybersecurity world.
