Diversity Philanthropy and Community

Challenge

In the wake of the George Floyd incident, the PureCars felt compelled to do something quickly and find a way to show our team that we were committed not only to our employees, but to our community. While creating processes, initiatives, and a task force would take some time, we knew that we could quickly “put our money where our mouths are”.

Actions

Our CEO, Jeremy Anspach, quickly partnered with our People Operations team to create a company fundraising challenge in which he would personally match any donations to a minority cause, HBCU, or other philanthropy. Within one week, PureCars and our amazing community were able to raise and donate over $20,000 to causes around the US, the Southeast, and Atlanta including the Thurgood Marshall Fund, the NAACP, and more.

Outcomes

Besides raising money for great causes, we were able to immediately show our employees our commitment to supporting the minority community, in and outside of PureCars. We were also able to publicly address on our company Town Hall call our stance that racism, bias, and prejudice of any kind would never have any place at PureCars and we would ensure that PureCars would be a safe haven from any type of negative behaviors. This also helped quickly mobilize our efforts in creating our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force shortly thereafter.

Quote

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are not just company initiatives. They are crucial components of a healthy company DNA of “doing the right thing”, building diverse teams of different thought and background, and being positive community and workplace leaders. We all have room to grow and learn. However, with open dialogue, understanding, and respect, there is no challenge or difficult time that we will not be able to conquer together.
