Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee

Challenge

MI-GSO|PCUBED USA recognized that we lacked a structured group to develop and track clear objectives for our organization to better understand and improve our diversity, equity, and inclusion values and practices. We wanted to understand our current state, how our employees feel about being part of MJP, and how we can grow and improve.

Actions

MI-GSO|PCUBED USA launched a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. The DEI committee is comprised of volunteers representing each of our regions, as well as a wide spectrum of professional and personal experiences. The committee works to develop and track clear objectives for our organization to understand, educate and improve our diversity, equity, and inclusion values and practices. We also defined our Commitment for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Outcomes

One of our DEi Committee's first initiatives was to launch an internal survey to assess current state and develop recommended actions for improvement. On this survey, MI-GSO|PCUBED employees were presented a series of questions to gauge their understanding and perspectives around diversity and inclusion, including their experience with M IP. Overall the response was positive with respondents rating 4.5 (out of 5) when asked "I feel I can contribute to my fullest potential without regard to my race, color, gender, sexual orientation, or disability." Furthermore, this survey brought areas forward that we need to continue working on as a team, including improving transparency and awareness training.

As a result, MI-GSO|PCUBED has begun sharing diversity metrics internally across the organization and will continue to do so on a regular basis to track our progress. Another key action resulting from the survey is a defined training plan for all employees to understand the value of diversity, having an inclusive mindset, and how to recognize and overcome unconscious bias. Additionally, the committee reports on diversity initiatives during our monthly departmental and regional meetings. These initiatives offer people opportunities to learn and connect with each other, fostering a more inclusive work culture.
