Developing Diversity and Inclusion Champions

Challenge

We recognized an opportunity to challenge our Associate Resource Groups (Blacks, Latinos, Asians, LGBTQ, veterans and women) that were established in 2002 to be more actively involved in the community as Diversity and Inclusion champions while enhancing their leadership skills.

Actions

In 2017 our ARGs identified goals that aligned with our company’s purpose and identified opportunities to educate our Associates and the surrounding communities in which we live and work.  Through several lunch and learns our Associates received training about volunteering, leadership development and public speaking and identified cause related events in the community working in partnership with our Corporate Social Responsibility group.

Outcomes

Our ARGs have eagerly embraced the challenge holding “Knowledge Walks” around our campus with educational information posted on signs along the way, inviting all associates to informative talks and lunches to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and empowered to discuss diversity and inclusion and actively volunteering in the communities in which they live and work. For example,  the Associate Network About African Ancestry (ANAAA) collected and donated hundreds of new books to underserved elementary schools in our community and raised funds to support at risk teens from low-income communities. Our Tupperware Equality Network (T.E.N.) rallied and engaged the entire campus after the June 12, 2016 PULSE tragedy through a movement “49 Days of Love and Kindness Acts” to commemorate the 49 lives that were lost. Four of the ARG leaders serve on the Chamber of Commerce Boards -  African-American, Hispanic, LGBT and Asian Chamber.  26 Tupperware women and minority leaders are active on Non-Profit Boards that impact women/girls and minorities.  Diversity and Inclusion is core to our values as members of the Orlando community and the Tupperware family. We believe in extending a hand, succeeding together, doing right by others, dreaming big and celebrating each other.
