Farmers strives for a diverse and inclusive workplace –to demonstrate and create a safe space for employees of all cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to bring their whole, most authentic selves to work. Creating an experience of inclusion helps employees embrace differences and encourages feelings of value, respect and empowerment. The challenge is to continue to foster and build a diverse and representative workforce that is inclusive of ideas and thought to help successfully serve our employees, customers and community.
One way Farmers demonstrates the importance and value of diversity and inclusion is by supporting 10 Employee Resource Groups (or ERGs) that help encourage a culture of engagement, develop a culture of allies and provide a culture where employees are supported and respected. These ERGs include:
Each Employee Resource Group outlines its own charter and strategic focus, but all share common, underlying principles: to increase outreach and awareness of their group; to make all feel welcome in their mission of additional exposure and reach; to promote equality and integrity; and to increase programs, resources, networking and education.
Collectively, Farmers ERGs boast over 10,000 members. Farmers ERGs support Diversity and Inclusion programs, organize events and drive actions to help make Farmers a more diverse and inclusive workforce. These members eagerly engage with other employees to help in identifying and shaping the structure, business opportunities and measurements that will bring inclusion to life and help everyone be their best.
By continuously improving our employee and customer experiences, Farmers has received external recognition, which includes but is not limited to:
The ERGs help promote diversity and inclusion across the organization and give employees another way to help make their voices heard.
