Creating Equity Through Community

Challenge

Ensuring all apprentices have access to a network and mentoring to support development and progression.

Actions

Community is one of the pillars of the Multiverse professional apprenticeship model. Through our community of 3,000+ apprentices and alumni across 250+ corporations, we provide a range of mentorship and networking opportunities. These include career mentoring, peer mentoring, reverse mentoring, and industry networking events.

Outcomes

Our Community Mentoring program offers apprentices access to the experience, insight and objective guidance of an industry mentor from outside their organization. The Program is tailored to the needs of each individual, but for many of the participants, they seek mentoring to help them consider their next steps beyond their apprenticeship. In a recent survey, 91% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that the program was enabling them to identify longer-term career goals – and how to work towards them. 100% of mentees would recommend the program to a friend.

Diversity, inclusion, and equity are deeply important to our mission as a company, the apprenticeships we offer, and how we approach our work. Laying the path to success for talented people, from a range of backgrounds, means cultivating a culture where they will be supported to succeed.

Having a diverse organization is the right thing to do and every company should be focused on better reflecting the people we serve. But it also makes good business sense - diverse teams are proven to increase fresh ideas, show higher financial returns, and even improve employee retention. Getting this right is firmly at the top of the agenda for many businesses, our own included.
