Completion of Benchmark Data

Challenge

Tyson wanted to use external surveys to benchmark our inclusion and diversity data and identify best practices from credible resources.

Actions

We wanted a comprehensive snapshot of our diversity practices that are housed in a central location. We researched several resources that measured comprehensive diversity practices and approaches, and decided to complete the DiversityInc survey and the National Organization on Disability Tracker. Additionally, we completed the Network of Executive Women’s survey, the U.S. Senator Robert Menendez Corporate Diversity Survey, and the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index. We have used this to inform our Inclusion and Diversity Framework, identifying several key focus areas where we have taken tangible steps to improve our inclusive practices.

In 2018, we will complete the Women in the Workplace Survey, as well as completing the other surveys.

Outcomes

Tyson Foods has used the benchmark data to develop the Diversity and Inclusion Framework, which outlines our diversity strategy and key actions that we are taking to address some of our biggest challenges.

Quote

As the largest U.S. food company, we have a unique opportunity – and responsibility – to make a difference. I’m proud of the commitments we’ve made to the CEO Action on Diversity & Inclusion and even prouder of the way our team is acting on them. If we want to truly understand and impact the world outside our business, we must be inclusive inside our business. Diversity makes us stronger.
