Company-wide, Virtual Training on Diversity & Inclusion

Challenge

Hunt A Killer believes that there is strength in diversity and that diversity and inclusion adds value to our company culture. Although Hunt A Killer is early in its journey with establishing our Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, we understand that a key part of a successful program starts with a solid foundation and understanding. This is why we currently partner with an external training resource to bring company-wide virtual training on Diversity & Inclusion to all of our teammates. This training lays a foundational groundwork for understanding the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and opens the door for further conversation.

Actions

All teammates are signed up to take an annual 3 hour virtual training session with a group of their colleagues. Sessions include 10-15 employees per class. An agenda is provided for the training session, which carves out time for smaller breakout groups (2-3 employee) to grapple with and understand the content in context of the larger discussion with the larger group. Post training, each participant will have a completed workbook to reference with resources that were shared during the training that they can use outside of class - ongoing.

Outcomes

Course outcomes help participants to: recognize the characteristics that make up diversity; talk more comfortably about differences; decrease conscious and accidental exclusion; create an inclusive workplace; and resolve misunderstandings related to diversity.

At Hunt A Killer, we believe having ongoing conversations about diversity and inclusion allows us to perform at our best. The main takeaway from the course is for all participants to learn to recognize different types of exclusion and practice several communication skills to create a more inclusive environment. This training gives all teammates a diversity and inclusion lexicon and fosters meaningful discussion about the benefits that differences among teammates brings to the team.
