Check Your Blind Spots Mobile Tour Visit

Challenge

We realized many employees are unaware of unconscious biases which are impacting the organization's ability to foster an inclusive culture.

Actions

The “Check Your Blind Spots” mobile tour visited the Express Scripts headquarters in St. Louis, MO on March 5, 2018.

During the mobile tour visit, Express Scripts employees had the opportunity to check their biases through interactive, engaging and enlightening implicit bias tests. In addition, representatives from Express Scripts Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) were available to showcase the internal initiatives taken to advance diversity and inclusion within the organization.

Community partners, local high school and university students, and other local companies were invited to attend the mobile tour as well.

Outcomes

In the four hours the mobile tour visited Express Scripts headquarters, nearly 300 people stopped by the event to learn more about unconscious bias, including employees, senior leadership, community partners, and local high school and university students.

Each employee who went through the experience was encouraged to add their ideas on how they were going to personally take action for a more inclusive workplace on the "What's Your Pledge" wall.

After the mobile tour stopped at Express Scripts, it spent the next two weeks visiting universities across Missouri – University of Missouri, St. Louis; University of Missouri, Columbia; University of Missouri, Kansas City; and Washington University. Express Scripts Talent Acquisition and University Relations team members were on hand to assist students with the mobile tour, answer any questions and provide information on Express Scripts’ overall diversity and inclusion efforts.
