Building a Diverse Talent Pipeline

Challenge

Last summer, to help continue to build and cultivate a strong pipeline of diverse investment staff candidates, TA Associates partnered with Evercore to launch its inaugural TA-CORE program. The program was created to advance the diversity pipeline of both firms by providing education, access, and career development opportunities to junior, diverse professionals interested in investment banking and private equity. Through five years of mentorship, TA-CORE provides participants with exposure to marquis deals and transactions, enables them to build subject matter expertise in an entrepreneurial and developmental environment, and offers an early advantage in recruiting for a private equity career.

 

Actions

The program targeted Evercore’s summer 2021 interns who identified as Black, African American, Hispanic, Latino/Latina, and/or Native American. Throughout the summer, TA Associates hosted several events to help educate participants on the world of Private Equity, get a feel for the work and culture at TA Associates, and to help jumpstart their relationships with Private Equity professionals. The program concluded with interviews for TA’s 2024 Associate Program with interested Evercore summer interns who had received and accepted a full time offer to Evercore’s two-year Analyst program.

 

Outcomes

During the initial year of the program, we had eight Evercore interns participate in events throughout the summer. We invited four of them to interview, extended three offers, and are beyond thrilled to welcome two program participants to our 2024 Associate class. After the huge success of last year’s program and with strong internal enthusiasm, we are excited to launch year two of the TA-Core program in June 2022. We look forward to building upon last year’s momentum with an even larger pool of eligible Evercore candidates and more in-person connectivity opportunities.
