Support AST Teammates, especially those in underrepresented groups in meeting or exceeding their professional development goals.

Actions

AST enhanced its internal mentorship program and AST Academy program to align with its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals. AST Academy is a global academy, and classes consist of young professionals hired from diverse backgrounds. Through enrolling in AST Academy, young professionals are paired with a mentor and HR business partner to assist them in their career development. Outside of AST Academy, AST has partnered with ERG leaders to grow our internal mentorship program. The AST mentorship program aids employees in venturing new career paths and supports them in their professional development. Mentorship pairings are evaluated during the initial pairing process. Once a mentorship pair meets, they sign a mentorship agreement and set goals to be tracked in the AST HCM Cloud. The AST mentorship program is monitored and evaluated with quarterly check-ins allowing mentees to be paired with different mentors if they choose.

Outcomes

AST Academy has enabled the onboarding of diverse talent into the organization. For example, AST Academy has grown the number of women in S.T.E.M. at our organization; through the mentorship provided, we have developed them into leadership roles at AST. Aside from AST Academy, our mentorship program has helped employees make career changes and grow into leadership roles.
