Affinity Groups and Networks at Alteryx

Challenge

Alteryx’s internal network of affinity groups have not gotten the executive support they need to be seen as fundamental to how the company elevates underrepresented groups. The work these groups do largely stay confined to the membership of those groups, having little effect on the company’s internal HR and DEI policies.

Actions

Monthly meetings between each of our ERG leaders and the CEO.

Outcomes

Every month Alteryx’s ERG leaders meet with the CEO to surface perceived obstacles within the company’s existing internal policies that might be preventing it from achieving its various DEI objectives and goals. It is an opportunity for the CEO (in partnership with the Chief People Operations Officer) to escalate those issues to the appropriate senior leaders and demand next steps and concrete actions from those leaders. It’s also a way the CEO can hear directly from the leadership representing those underrepresented employees who often go unheard.
