Advancing Women In Healthcare
Challenge
LEO Pharma Inc. is the U.S. affiliate of Denmark-based LEO Pharma A/S. As the company marked its 10 year anniversary of its U.S. presence in 2019 and embarks on a strategic transformation as an employer of choice, the organization had no established internal employee resource or affinity groups or networks as well as faced a challenge where some candidates for employment had little awareness of the company’s profile in the U.S.
Actions
In August 2019, LEO Pharma Inc. became a corporate partner of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), committed to further the advancement and impact of women in the business of healthcare, and engaged its U.S. organization in becoming members as well as HBA themes and topics.
Outcomes
LEO Pharma Inc. created an internal network and foundation to empower women in our company with opportunities for leadership development and growth while visibly strengthening its commitment to advancing women. Nearly 30 employees have joined HBA as members, including becoming chapter leaders and volunteers. Our community continues to grow and develop through both formal and informal events and initiatives, including networking, mentoring and annual conferences and development.
