A Message from the Board of Directors and CEO

Statement

A statement from GMC’s Board of Directors and CEO to all employees (sent June 2, 2020)

Dear GMC Family,

Across the nation, there are outcries of injustice in response to the murder of Black Americans, most recently George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. These are three names on a list that spans much too long.

This is a hard topic to address, but we would be amiss to say nothing. Our communities and our people are hurting, and the pain is justified.

GMC is made up of a multitude of people with different backgrounds, unique experiences and individual stories. We are all different, but we must be unified in standing up for what is right.

We do not, and will not, tolerate racism and discrimination. We do not condone violence.

We will stand up for equality for all people. We will stand up for justice and peace. We will stand up for each other.

We recognize diversity as a strength. One that should be celebrated, and one that we must always strive to improve in our own GMC community. GMC is a place where our people should feel safe and valued for who they are as individuals. We must provide an environment where we can have open, honest conversations about these issues, because this is the only way we will make change for tomorrow.

It’s hard to know where to start, as this pain is not something that can be healed overnight. We must start by taking care of each other and of our communities, and know that our actions can make a difference.

Here at GMC, we will stand together and stand up for what is right.

Sincerely,

GMC Board of Directors
