Cimplifi is dedicated to empowering our people with the freedom to be their authentic selves through a program of communication, training, and a sincere intent for our work to be genuine and meaningful.

Actions

Our small legal technology company is growing fast and furious. Last year, we initiated our first diversity, equity & inclusion “committee” led by our general counsel and sponsored by our president and CEO. All our employees are invited to participate in the committee as much or as little as their time permits. Monthly discussions are intended to further our agenda to develop a top to bottom program and an environment where our people can feel included and have a safe and fulfilling professional experience. The goal is to foster inclusion through respecting and celebrating our differences with the support of our leadership. The committee established certain internal and external goals in its inception year as follows: We determined that we required a diversity, equity, and inclusion statement to set the tone for our work. We committed to contributing our technology resources and time to pro bono work. We set forth an intention to increase our diversity hiring. We planned to roll out training and education to our entire employee population and to establish a mechanism to measure hiring metrics.

Outcomes

Cimplifi D E &I committee developed a diversity statement through a collaborative effort that manifested in a simple, yet comprehensive message that will guide our future. We committed to pro bono work and initiated our first project with Relativity’s Justice for Change program. We committed technical resources and people hours on a first project and will continue to expand that commitment. Cimplifi pledged to increase diverse hiring and establish metrics around that goal. As a first step in our building blocks for change, Cimplifi hired a strategic engagement associate director with a background in diversity, equity, and inclusion from an HBCU. Next, we will identify and roll out training to our employee population with the goal of 100% participation to foster a feeling of belonging and safety amongst our employees.
