It has been 365 days since our nation came together with broken hearts, igniting a long overdue outrage at the systemic racism that permeates our country. As we watched George Floyd tragically murdered and saw countless Black lives lost — Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many others—we knew we must do more. And we must move quickly.
This was a pivotal year for the business community. As business leaders took a stand, CEO Action doubled in size to nearly 2,000 signatories uniting to address societal systemic racism, strengthen inclusion and engage our people in complex and sometimes difficult conversations. We convened leaders from 85+ industries, held over 1,000 conversations with C-suite leaders and engaged 1.5+ million employees in candid conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion issues to help drive greater understanding and appreciation of differences.
We are energized by the momentum and vow to continue to hold ourselves—as individuals, leaders, organizations and as a coalition—accountable to building a more just and equitable world with the relentless urgency it deserves.
